Asus N81VG

  • Mood: Excited
Went to Comex IT fair to buy a new laptop to bring to China. Buddy recommended one that has superior graphics in case I need it for any engineering or design software.

So in the end, this is what I bought!

Yeah! That's the Asus N81VG with a price tag of $1898. I bought the red one. And after a night of using, I love it!

One cool function is the Express Gate feature that allows me to skype, surf, listen music, view pictures without entering the Windows OS! It's like a simple OS by itself with a load-up of less than 8 seconds. I assume it saves battery power as well as it doesn't load up other redundant functions like the Windows OS do.

There's also fingerprint access security feature and face-recognition access. I don't think I will be using face-recognition to log in as I guess it will lag the start-up.

The free gifts include:
Optical Mouse
Notebook bag
1 yr Norton Antivirus
8GB thumbdrive
320GB 2.5" External HDD
Notebook Cooler
Cable Lock (I'll need it in China)
Keyboard Protector
Laptop Sleeve

Bought a combo of extension cable (5X sockets) and travel adaptor for $20 to bring over. The cool think about the travel adaptor is that it can power up items via USB port!

Cool Cool Cool! I think it's money well-spent. Haha....

11 more days to departure and 6 more days left in Singapore. AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

1. I don't see why people who practise safe sex or abstinence from sex should donate to help Aids "victims". What the hell... of course, minority of them may be innocent. They could have gotten it from unclean needles, or something like that. But for the rest, they had their fun. They were irresponsible. Bloody hell, they don't deserve pity! No way will I ever donate for their cause.

2. Most religions bind people. Some other religion(s) divide people.

Doing business in China

Was reading Doing Business in China for Dummies.

Came across one sentence that amused me:

Don't send people to China just because you don't like them and/or don't want them around.  This move is often a multimillion-dollar mistake!

双喜

  • Mood: Happy ; Relieved
  • Music: 我很丑可是我很温柔
Really double happiness sia!

First, I passed my Class 2B!! Was really worried about it because of the fact that I will be leaving for Nanjing soon. So if I failed, I have to come back from Nanjing early next year to retake the test. And I have to trouble my family to help me book the test date 1 month before, renew my PDL and CDC membership. And since I won't get to practise for a long time, it is likely that I will fail my subsequent attempts, and it will turn out to be an expensive consequence. Now, I won't be obliged to come back early just for my Class 2B. I want spend a longer time in China and maybe come back only 2 years later. I want to spend next year's CNY over there and subsequent term breaks traveling around China. Maybe I will get home-sick and come back early, but at least now that will be because I want to, and not because I am OBLIGED to...

Secondly, I received a letter today from Melbourne's Traffic Police. I wrote them a letter seeking a waiver of the 2 speeding fines I kena during my Australia trip. I explained that I was not familiar with their traffic system, and that I did not see the speed limit signs when I was caught speeding. Moreover, I did not cause any traffic accidents throughout my whole trip there. And, in their reply letter, they have decided to withdraw the fines!!!! They stated that they are convinced I still infringed the traffic rules, but due to my good traffic record, they decided to write off the fines. Woohoo!!! That is A$475 (S$570) saved!

I gotta say, their speeding fines are damn expensive. In fact, I searched the internet, and saw comments that Victoria is notorious for their traffic fines. For speeding in excess of 12km/h, I got a A$227 (S$270) fine. In Singapore, the same offence would cost only $130. In fact, beating a red light over here costs $200, which is still less than my fine!!! I was thinking of not paying the fine, but the chances of me going back to Victoria is there (maybe bring my kids there for holiday, or for work), so I thought it would be better that I paid up. Well, now that I don't have to, I am in a super good mood =D

This is really a happy ending. Calls for a celebration!

Yeah!

Pri Sch Days

Just had an outing with Ryan, Keng Yu and Winston.

Primary school days were so fun! Hahaha.... we simply laughed at all the cute things that happened 10 years ago. Well, it was fun, and I have to conclude that I did had a memorable childhood.

There were things and people that were brought up, which I couldn't recollect at first. But after remembering them, I felt good.
